About Katja

I’m a 38 year old woman from Germany with a passion for travelling. In August 2011 I decided to pause my fast moving life in the western civilization and travel to remote places in the developing world. Travelling overland is the best mode of travel for getting really in touch with the local people and see places which no standard tourist will ever put his foot on. However, overland travel requires time since thousands of miles need to be covered without an airplane. So I decided to take 15 months time to undertake a big journey… From my professional background, I worked over a decade for a global management consultancy and I’m holding a MBA degree which I have earned from leading business schools in Germany, India, China and the United States.

Guiding Principles

“Buy the ticket, take the ride.” – Hunter S. Thompson, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas

“It’s only after we’ve lost everything that we’re free to do anything.” – Tyler Durden, Fight Club

“The things you own end up owning you.” – Tyler Durden, Fight Club

“If you don’t change lanes, you can’t overtake.” – Chinese proverb

“We’ll never know our full potential unless we push ourselves to find it.” – Travis Rice, The Art of Flight

“You know it’s funny what’s happened to us. Our lives have become digital. Our friends, now virtual. And everything you could ever want to know is just a click away. Experiencing the world through endless second hand information isn’t enough. If we want authenticity, we have to initiate it.” – Travis Rice, The Art of Flight

“When it comes down to it, it’s pretty simple. Adventure is what you make it. And whether it’s the travel, the discovery or just the feeling of letting go, the only way we’ll ever find out is to get out there and do it. Enjoy the ride.” – Travis Rice, The Art of Flight

Hi room mate in Rio! So you are doing well and finding out if a life with “Pedro” suits you. I see a few critical comments here and there. But when I read why you did it (although I heard you SAY why you were going to do it) it all sounds perfectly sound and normal. And I think in the end you were right to go back and find out. I was among the ones who advised you to invite him to join YOU. Keep travelling!
